In June this year, Bradford Disability Services brought together 30 organisations that operate in the Bradford Metropolitan District to show what great services there are out there for carers. Mid way through Carers Week 2014, Bradford Disability Services took over the huge sports hall of Richard Dunn Sports Centre and invited down all the organisations that worked with carers and all the carers themselves.

It was a huge undertaking, but people really jumped on board with us and the range of information, freebies, advice and support on offer was staggering from most of the local organisations and a lot of the national ones too. Though the venue was difficult to get to, something we are addressing for next year, we had a good number of carers attending the event and really enjoying it. Most of our feedback said they had found out something they didn’t know and got something out of the day, which was the point of it all!
Champions Show the Way Choir
Entertainment was also going on a regular intervals. We had the Champions Show the Way Choir performing (more information on Champions Show the way can be found here.) and also Micky Bimble, a circus entertainer making his way around the room on a huge hula hoop, juggling and showing carers and workers alike how to do a few tricks! It was a great day!
