January 2015 – Bradford Disability Services

Posted on May 18, 2016June 27, 2020

It’s that time again, time to announce the new programme of events for Carers over the next few months.  We really do hope we have got something that will interest you and your family, but if not, why not let us know what you would like to do.  Feedback is always welcome!

There is a family trip in the half term holiday to the National Railway museum in York, which will include tickets on the “Land Train” which will take you up into the centre of York and back so shopping and site seeing is also an option.  The National Railway Museum is a great place for anyone interested in trains and engineering, with everything from a replica of Stephenson’s Rocket to the Japanese Bullet train, with science shows and interactive displays.  There is also a special guest for half term in the form of Paddington bear who will be making appearances throughout the day and there will be Paddington based activities to join in with.

Once the kids are back at school, its time for us all to relax a little and there are two afternoon teas, one in Bradford at the Great Victoria Hotel and one in Ilkley at Outside the Box cafe.  This is a great chance for you to come and enjoy a treat and meet other carers near you.  It should be relaxing and fun!  We are meeting in Ilkley on the 25th February at 1pm and Bradford on the 10th March at 1pm.

Finally, we return to our ever popular trip to Carlisle via the railway and the Picturesque Settle to Carlisle.  It is a wonderfully relaxing day as we take in the amazing sites along the way and chat with the other people in the group, we often have a guide to the route on the train who will tell us all the interesting bits of history of the line on the way.  we then have around three hours in Carlisle to shop and see the sites before returning.  We set off on this adventure on the 25th March.

If you want to book on any of these trips and activities, all you need to do is call Ruth Gray, they are all free to carers in the Bradford District.
