Trustees
The strategic development and overall responsibility for the organization lies with the Management Committee/Trustee Board, currently a body of seven dedicated and skilled trustees which meets on a monthly basis, setting both policy and direction. These individuals bring to the organization direct experience of disability, a wealth of knowledge and skills from all sectors combined with diversity. Bradford Disability Services Limited is an organization for disabled people, managed by disabled people.

Peter Kay
Peter has been a member of the Board of Trustees for 3 years and has been Chair for the past 18 months. He is also a Trustee of AGE UK (Bradford and District) and of the Bradford Curry Project. Peter has 40 years’ Local Government experience with three Councils, 38 years of which have been in Social Care. He has a Social Work qualification and a management degree. He retired from Bradford Council (after 21 years’ service there) as Assistant Director (Adult and Community Services) three years ago. He had specific responsibility for Bradford Council’s Disability services from 1992 to 2000 (his favourite job). Peter is a runner, walker and cyclist. He has climbed all the Lakeland peaks, run 12 marathons and is a passionate Bolton Wanderers’ supporter. He is a family man, with a wife, two daughters and a beautiful granddaughter, who was born in 2010.
Kathryn Smith
Kathryn was Director of Services at Scope and was responsible for all Scope Services. She now works at the Alzheimers Society. Kathryn has worked in social care since 1989, most recently as an Assistant Director with North Yorkshire and has lectured on social work courses for Leeds and the Open University. Kathryn is also a school governor of Birchfield Primary School in Gildersome. She has three children and a passion for horses.
