Volunteering
Volunteers contribute to the work of Disability Advice Bradford and Disability Equipment Bradford in a number of ways and help us deliver much needed services to the local community. There are a number of reasons why you may wish to volunteer – to learn new skills, to share your experience, to make a difference to the community or simply to meet new and interesting people while you work. So if you are interested in the work that we do and think you can make a contribution, we want to hear from you.
Volunteer Opportunities
Some Volunteer opportunities are short-term, perhaps providing experience to someone wanting to return to work after a period of absence. Others may suit someone retired or unable to work but who still feel they have skills to share. We currently have the following opportunities available within our organisation:
- Activities Assistant – helping out at choir and other activities, meeting and greeting, making teas and coffees etc
- Activities facilitator – sharing your abilities like knitting, crafting, singing, etc with carers and disabled people
- Demonstration Centre assistant – working at Park View showing people around
- Driver – delivering equipment after orders are in
- Gadget Roadshow assistant – running the gadget roadshows
- Events assistant – helping out at ad hoc events
Full ‘on the job’ training is provided. Agreed travel and meal expenses will be reimbursed.
Voluntary Management Board Members
We wish to increase our management board team by appointing people who share an understanding and interest in the issues that affect disabled people. We are looking for people with a direct personal experience of disability.
If you feel that you have relevant skills and experience to offer as a committee member and director of the organisation and you can spare a minimum of 3 hours every four to six weeks to attend meetings, we would like to hear from you.
To find out more about volunteering opportunities with us, then please give us a call on .
In the case of both volunteers and voluntary Management Committee members, we are committed to welcoming people from the widest possible diversity of background, culture and experience. We particularly welcome applications from disabled people.
We look forward to hearing from you.
