IDEAS for all is a partnership between Bradford Disability Services Limited (BDSL), Contact, BACC and Able All. We aim to enable, support and empower disabled people, carers and their families in the Metropolitan District of Bradford and beyond.  We are planning how we can improve our services for disabled people.

To do this we need to hear your experiences and views on the care and support you receive from both voluntary and statutory social care services.

This year we have some great opportunities for carers…and they are all FREE!!

We have a great training programme over the next three months, with two courses to help carers in their role.  The first is our Make My Money Work course, which is a 3 hour course (over two weeks) in making the most out of your money and getting the most you can out of it.  It is essential in these tough financial times.  The second course we have is Safer People Handling, which is a great course for those who look after someone with mobility issues, or who have to move someone.  This is a full day course and has great feedback.

We have also created a workshop, just for carers, with Bradford Kickstart, which will inform carers of the opportunities for working at home for yourself.  This is on the 22nd January at the Thornbury Centre.

As usual we also have some great trips and activities for you to join in with, this time we have the Settle to Carlisle Railway trip, the Deep and many more.  To find out about these trips and activities, please click here.

Rica, an independent research for older and disabled people, is conducting a survey of scooter users on behalf of the UK Department for Transport. If you regularly use a mobility scooter (you don’t have to own one) then we’d like to hear from you.

The survey should take 10-15 minutes to complete and will help us understand who uses mobility scooters and what their reasons are.

Respondents will be entered into a prize draw to win £50 worth of shopping vouchers. You can answer anonymously if you choose, but will need to supply contact details to be entered.
